TPWD - Frontier Texas! Angler Education Booth - Help!
Posted Wednesday, August 20, 2014 10:26 AM

Mike Homer from TPWD called me today and said that they were handed this task yesterday to coordinate for an event the city hosts at Frontier Texas! each year.  Last year it was handled by others in their group and internal to TPWD there were miscommunications.  The local TPWD finds themselves short handed on volunteers.  They know this is short notice but, if you have some free time this Saturday, August 23rd and can help them out... they would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!!!!

Here is the email I received from Mike with the details:

Thanks for trying to round up some last minute helping hands for the City of Abilene-sponsored Frontier Texas! Event this weekend. The event is going to be hosting various outdoor education activities and wellness booths at Frontier Texas! In downtown Abilene. We are seeking 3-4 people to assist with the event at our TPWD angler education station. We will be teaching knot tying, casting, fish ecology, and hosting a mini-fish derby where kids can try to use cane poles to fish for channel catfish. As of late, we are short-handed and could use all the help we can get. We are asking that volunteers contact me or Natalie Amoroso (Natalie.amoroso@tpwd.texas.gov) by email or by phone to RSVP. We are asking that volunteers arrive at Frontier Texas! at 7:30AM to be briefed and for activity assignment.

The address is:

625 N 1st St, Abilene, TX 79601

We really appreciate your help!

Enough volunteer have been found!  Received a note from Mike Homer and they have found enough volunteers throughout the TPWD organization to come help.  If you would still like to go help feel free but, they have it covered as of right now.

Also... he told me this event would have many things for kids to do along with archery and camping.  Many of the things are outdoor related so if you would like to take the kids...it sounds like they would have fun.

Thanks club for all you do!!

Eric
